Stephen J Turner

High-Temperature Geochemistry and Petrology

I am a researcher and lecturer of mineralogy and petrology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in the Department of Earth, Geographic, and Climate Sciences. My research makes use of trace element, major element, and isotopic analyses of igneous materials, with a focus on subduction zone volcanism. My work addresses the fluxes of volatile elements from the slab to the mantle wedge in subduction zones and how convergent margin volcanism and subduction give rise to stable continents a heterogenous mantle.
